Prep Skates and Evaluation Roster Updates

***Groups posted for upcoming Skates.***

Groups are set through the 3rd Prep skate on September 17th. A new roster update will be posted Friday September 18 and once again after each following 4 skates. Please make sure to check the roster updates to  ensure you are going with the correct group.

Player Groups for Prep Skates

The following document has a list of the groups and ice times for the prep skates, if your child’s name is not listed, please email the office ( your child’s name, their division and that their name is missing on the group lists for this weekend’s prep skates.  They will be able confirm which group they should be in, or it there are registration requirements that still need to be completed prior to your child being allowed on the ice.

2020-2021 Division Start Up Dates

For the 2020-2021 season, the first part of the evaluation process for the U9 Division, will be physical distant skates to assist in placing players in a cohort group of 36 skaters maximum.  The dates for these skates are listed below. Cohort groups are not the final teams.  Teams will be selected once Hockey Alberta authorizes player to begin.  Please refer to the Hockey Alberta Hockey Return to Play document
Prep Skates (these are not mandatory for attendance, but used for players to get back on the ice prior to any evaluation skates)
Prep Skate 1 - Saturday Sept 12, 2020 in the morning
Prep Skate 2 - Sunday Sept 13, 2020 in the morning
Prep Skate 3 - Wednesday or Thursday Sept 16 or 17 in the evening
Prep Skate 4 - Saturday Sept 19, 2020 in the morning
Evaluation Skates
Sunday Sept 20, 2020 in the morning
Saturday Sept 26, 2020 in the afternoon
Sunday Sept 27, 2020 in the afternoon
Group Lists and Ice Times for both the Prep Skates & Evaluation Skates will be posted to this tab a day by Sept 11, 2020 
Players will be part of a cohort group of less then 50 players/goalies/benchstaff for the month of October, and if movement from one cohort group to another is required, then physically distancing will be maintained for 2 weeks prior to the movement of any players.

The timeline for when modified game play will start is still being determined and is anticipated to be during the month of November.  What the modified game play will be, will be dependent on a number of factors including recommendations from the Alberta Government, Hockey Alberta and the League.  Players may still be moved from a cohort group too another cohort group during this time period.


A zoom parent meeting will no longer be held prior to the start of the season, a PDF document will be forwarded to members by the end of the day on Tues Sept 1, and posted to this tab at that time. 

  This document will  discuss the upcoming season and what it in anticipated to look like. Please ensure that you read and respond to the document as it is time sensitive regarding the season and registration options. (Parents will have a specified period that, if they wish to withdraw from hockey for the season they can, with a full refund less $75 admin fee. Once a player steps out on the ice the current SGMHA refund policy would be followed (please CLICK HERE for SGMHA standard refund policy)).

Alberta Health Daily Checklist

Prior to any ice session that a participant (player, goalie, on ice official , off ice official), they are to review the Alberta Daily Checklist. If they answer YES to any of the questions, they are not to attend the ice session.

the U9 Division is currently accepting applications for the Head Coach position on teams for the 2020-2021 season.

For members who clicked Yes to the questions 'Are you Interested in Being a Head Coach'  and did not receive the email requesting the SGMHA coach application to be completed, please click the document below to complete and email to the U9 Division Director (

If you did not click Yes during the registration process and are interested in a Head Coach position, please complete the SGMHA Coach Application and forward it to the U9 Division Director.
