U11 2025 Evaluation Information

The 2025 U11 evaluations will kick off with our goalie skills on August 29, 2025, then proceed with the female evaluations on August 31, 2025 to September 2, 2025.  Lastly the coed evaluations will be on September 6, 2025, and will end on September 20, 2025.  All females will participate in the female only evaluations.  Those females wanting to play coed hockey, will have their female only evaluation score discarded and they will be released to begin evaluations within the coed stream on September 6, 2025.  The remainder of the females will be rostered onto teams or released.

SGMHA will be using Sports Evaluations to complete the upcoming evaluations.  Each player will be assigned their unique code, and you will receive this via email from Sports Evaluations.  When parents login they will see next skate times and a map to the facility.  There will be an option to receive player insights for an extra charge.  The data that will be viewed is individual data only, not sum data.

The first skate will be created based on alphabetical order to separate into the skills skates.  From there, the scores will be utilized to generate the appropriate skates.  Sports Evaluations have added a lot of information to their website such as evaluation criteria, evaluation scale, evaluation tips, drills, forms, FAQ's and some great information for the parents.  The evaluators will be using their phones or iPads for electronic data capture.  Please do not panic if evaluators are on their devices, they will be using sliders/toggles (no typing) to evaluate each player.

Parents/guardians are not permitted to speak to any evaluator, please bring your concerns up to the division director immediately and it will be sorted out.

Evaluation Coed Game Volunteers

In order to have a successful evaluation season, we require your help.  We are looking for two parents to run the time clock and penalty box during each of the games and four coaches (two on each bench) to run the bench doors.  Please note that if you are selecting to be a coach, you must be on the opposite bench of your athlete.  Please see attached signup sheet for the game volunteers.

Evaluation Extra Bench Help (Volunteer Credit - non u11 families only)

We are looking for four parents (two per bench) to volunteer to help monitor bench shift length, positions and jumping of lines.  Evaluations are intended to showcase each players skill.   The SGMHA board has decided that if a non U11 Parent family signs up for a minimum of 5 games then that family will receive their Mandatory Volunteer Requirement Credit.  Please see below the signup sheet for the game volunteers and please check in with the division director prior to your scheduled shift time.

U11 tiered division information

The U11 Division is comprised of players that are 9 & 10 years old as of Dec 31, 2025.

The U11 Division generally has one practice and one game per week, but more ice can be picked up by the coach and manager of each of your teams.

The U11 Division will host prep skates prior to evaluations.  Prep skates can start as early as the last weekend in August.  Starting dates will be posted on the Important Dates Tab.

The U11 Division evaluations will start once the PAC U11AA team tryouts are near completion. Those participants selected by the PAC U11AA team will then be committed to that team and will be excluded from the tiered house evaluations.  Those participants released from PAC U11AA will be required to complete tiered house league evaluations.  Once evaluations are completed, participants will be placed on a teams based on their evaluation rankings.  Best efforts will be made to ensure teams are at a maximum of 18 players.

U11 Tiered teams participate in the EFHL league for game play during the season which typically runs the first weekend in October to the second weekend in March.

Full hockey player equipment is required for all sessions.  Please refer to the Parent Portal link for more information on equipment requirements.
